Fatal Crash Reported On Girón-Pasaje Road Near Cumbe

A fatal traffic crash was reported on the Girón-Pasaje road on Sunday morning, July 19.
Where It Happened
The emergency was reported at 06:36 through ECU 911. The incident occurred at kilometer 14 of the Girón-Pasaje road, near a gas station in the Cumbe sector of Cuenca canton.
Preliminary information described an initial collision involving a cyclist and then a car crash.
Emergency Response
ECU 911 coordinated first-response agencies after the alert. Units from the Cuenca Fire Department and the Ecuador Transit Commission responded to the site.
The crash left one person dead and one person injured. The injured person was transferred to a health facility for medical care.
What Drivers Should Take From It
Authorities had not reported the cause at the time of the update. The road is a reminder to slow down on inter-cantonal routes, especially where cyclists, pedestrians, buses, and private vehicles share space.
