Caudales Dance Festival Brings Ecuador And Mexico Artists To Cuenca

Cuenca has a short dance festival opening tonight, and it is centered at one of the city’s better-known university venues.
The International Dance Festival Caudales runs at Teatro Carlos Cueva Tamariz, bringing together 12 artists, researchers and cultural managers, three stage groups and about 30 participants.
The Schedule
The program opens July 2 at 7 PM with Cordillera Violeta, a production by the University of Cuenca Dance Company.
The next performance is Cenizas, by Colectivo Norte, also scheduled for 7 PM. The festival closes Saturday with Consecuencias Imprevistas, again from 7 PM.
More Than Performances
The academic side of the festival includes workshops at the Museo Universitario, directed by Pedro Garcia from Mexico and Ecuadorian artists Carlos Delgado, Andy Cambisaca and Steven Rivera.
For expats, this is one of those weeks where Cuenca’s university scene matters. The city’s cultural calendar is not only museums and churches; a lot of serious local programming runs through university theaters, galleries and workshops.
