Cuenca Museums Will Offer Free Vacation Camps for Kids

If you have kids or grandkids in Cuenca this summer, the municipal museums have a very useful option: free vacation camps.
The programs are aimed at children ages 6 to 12 and will run during July and August 2026. The focus is art, recreation, creativity and Cuenca's cultural heritage.
MMAM: Art Workshops in July
The Museo Municipal de Arte Moderno, better known as MMAM, opens registration on July 1, 2026.
Registration will be handled at the museum from 09:00 to 16:45.
The vacation program runs from July 6 to July 31 in the Taller de Artes Plasticas and focuses on different artistic disciplines.
The MMAM program has 60 spaces, split into two groups of 30 participants.
The age and schedule breakdown is:
| Age group | Time |
|---|---|
| Children ages 6 to 8 | 14:00 to 15:00 |
| Children ages 9 to 12 | 15:00 to 16:00 |
The listed requirement is a black-and-white copy of the child's ID card, and the minimum age is 6.
The closing activity will include an exhibition of the children's work, planned for August 31 in the museum patio.
Paja Toquilla Museum: Two Sessions
The Museo Municipal de la Paja Toquilla y el Sombrero will offer Vacaciones creativas, a program for children ages 7 to 12.
This one includes workshops, games and crafts tied to cultural heritage.
Registration is through 0989749612, and spaces are limited.
The schedule is:
| Session | Dates | Time |
|---|---|---|
| First season | July 13 to July 24 | 10:00 to 12:00 |
| Second season | July 27 to August 7 | 10:00 to 12:00 |
Why This Is Handy
Free structured activities can be hard to find during school vacation, especially ones connected to Cuenca's museums instead of just screens and errands.
For expat families, grandparents or anyone hosting visiting children, this is worth checking quickly because both programs have limited capacity.
Keep Cuenca's daily expat briefing independent.
Reader support helps pay for reporting, translation, editing, hosting, and the daily work behind CuencaExpat.
