Cuenca museums during the August 2026 holiday

Local reporting documented a special museum and cultural-space program for the August 8–10, 2026 holiday. Those hours have expired. This page identifies the institutions named in that program and points to the municipal museum system for a new visit.

What was on the holiday list

El Mercurio's August 7 report listed the municipal Remigio Crespo Toral Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Hat and Toquilla Straw Museum, City Hall Gallery and Planetarium among the sites with a holiday schedule. It also covered the Museo de las Conceptas. The municipality's own museum directory provides a current entry point for the municipal institutions.

The holiday program offered several kinds of visit. The municipality says the Remigio Crespo Toral Museum holds historical records, including early city-council books. Its Museum of Modern Art focuses on modern and contemporary art. The Toquilla Straw and Hat Museum explains the craft and its local economy, while the Planetarium is a science venue with dome projections. Choosing by subject is more useful than treating “the museums” as one interchangeable outing.
