Molleturo Bridge Expansion Reaches 95% Completion

A bridge expansion in Molleturo has reached 95% completion, according to a project update from the Government of Azuay.

The work is expanding the bridge over the Sadracay River to two lanes. The project is intended to strengthen road safety and improve connectivity toward Azuay’s coastal corridor.

What is changing

The project is being carried out in coordination with the GAD Parroquial de Molleturo and reports an investment of $121,795. The update says it directly benefits more than 7,166 residents.

The structure is an 11-meter slab bridge that will have a two-lane roadway and two side sidewalks. It currently has only one traffic lane, a condition that makes it harder for heavy vehicles to pass and can force maneuvers that increase accident risk.

The intended result is more predictable movement through the area and safer passage for people using the corridor. The source does not provide a public opening date or a schedule for temporary traffic controls while the final work is completed.
