Monserrath Astudillo Brings Tia Cuquita Back to Cuenca

A familiar Cuenca stage name is back this week.
El Mercurio reports that Cuenca actress Monserrath Astudillo will present La Tia Cuquita: La rebelion del cucharon at Teatro Pumapungo.
The performances are scheduled for June 4, 5 and 6 at 20:00.
What The Show Is About
The comedy follows an older woman who resists being sent to a nursing home and defends her independence through cooking.
El Mercurio reports the production is part of a saga that began with La casa de la Cuca.
Astudillo told the outlet she always comes to premiere in Cuenca because it feels like asking for a blessing in her hometown.
The show uses humor, but it also touches on aging, loneliness, family decisions and the autonomy of older adults.

El Mercurio reports tickets are available online through Meet2Go.

What This Means For Expats
