Julio Jaramillo Paving Is Finished; Traffic Opening Expected in October

Paving work on Calle Julio Jaramillo, near Parque de la Luz in El Vecino, is complete, Cuenca’s municipality reported on September 17. Acting Mayor Marisol Peñaloza inspected the work with residents on September 15.

The project covers 136 meters and represents an investment of USD 147,849, according to the municipal report.

The traffic date is still ahead

Vehicle circulation is expected to begin in early October, once the pavement has cured. That is the timing to watch for anyone planning to drive through the area; the municipality has not announced an exact opening day.

The work included more than a new surface. The municipality lists water and sanitation work, identifying and adapting the existing water main, building curbs and pouring concrete pavement.

Part of a wider road package

Julio Jaramillo belongs to roadworks package 17, which covers approximately one kilometer of streets and has a total budget of USD 1.4 million.

The municipality says the package also includes paving on La Cascarilla, Juglares, Coronel Monsalve, Rábida and Enrique Félix, plus an unnamed street connecting to Las Golondrinas.

Its report says concrete-pouring work on Pasacalle, in Bellavista, is nearing completion, while work continues on a section of Beethoven. Those are separate projects within the package: the expected early-October vehicle opening specifically concerns Julio Jaramillo.

For now, the clearest distinction for neighbors is between finished paving and the later start of vehicle access.
