Cuenca Has A New Entry Plan While Cuzco Street Closes For 60 Days

Cuenca has a new traffic plan on the east side of the city because Cuzco Street is closing for 60 days.
The closure is tied to duct work for the depressed passage and road-structure repairs connected to the Monay interchange project. During that period, vehicles entering the city from that side are being directed to use Guadalajara.
The only listed exceptions are Cuzco-fronting residents and people living in Urbanizacion Vista al Rio, who will have two enabled accesses to reach their homes.
What Changes
MIT, DGM, and EMOV made changes on Guadalajara to handle the detour. The route has new horizontal and vertical signage, and its circulation was changed to one-way traffic.
A traffic light is also being installed on Guadalajara this weekend to improve safety and flow.
The bigger rule for drivers is this: vehicles with more than three axles, including trailers and cargo trucks, are supposed to use De Las Americas instead. EMOV is expected to monitor compliance and issue sanctions for violations.
Hospital Access
The closure does not change access to Hospital Jose Carrasco Arteaga. Users of the hospital and public transport units are expected to keep entering through the same hospital access pattern used since the work began.
The Bottom Line
If you live, study, shop, or have appointments around this side of Cuenca, build in extra time. Residents on Guadalajara are already worried about heavier traffic and possible road damage, especially during peak hours.
