17 Cuenca Sectors Will Lose Water June 11 and 12

ETAPA has scheduled a temporary water-service suspension for Thursday, June 11, and Friday, June 12, 2026.
The work is tied to deep cleaning and preventive maintenance at the Miraflores reserve tanks. ETAPA says the tanks must be emptied, which means sectors supplied by those reserves will lose service temporarily.
Affected Areas
The affected list includes:
- Centro de Especialidades Medicas antiguo IESS
- Centro de Salud Pumapungo
- Mercado 12 de Abril
- Clinica La Paz
- Cementerio Municipal
- Terminal Terrestre
- Aeropuerto Mariscal La Mar
- Chola Cuencana
- Bodegas Juan Eljuri
- Urbanizacion Vivienda Familiar
- Universidad Politecnica Salesiana
- Unidad Educativa Herlinda Toral
- Centro Educativo Inmaculada
- Polideportivo Totoracocha
- Altiplano
- La Central de Totoracocha
- Parque Educadores
When Service Returns
ETAPA says the work should conclude on June 12. After that, the company will begin recovering reserves and restoring service progressively until supply normalizes in all affected sectors.
What This Means For Expats
If you live, work, study or have appointments in these areas, fill containers ahead of time and avoid scheduling laundry or water-heavy errands during the cut.
The airport and Terminal Terrestre are on the affected list, so travelers should also build in a little patience if facilities are operating under reduced water conditions.
