Public University Registration Opens June 2 for Ecuador Applicants

This one is national, but it matters if your family has a student planning public higher education in Ecuador.
El Mercurio reports that applicants to Ecuador's public higher education system must complete the Registro Nacional from June 2 through June 6, 2026.
Who Needs To Register
The process is mandatory for people seeking access to:
- Public universities
- Public polytechnic schools
- Public technological institutes
- Public higher conservatories
El Mercurio reports that the registration applies to third-year high school students in the Sierra-Amazonia 2025-2026 school regime, graduates from previous years and foreign citizens with regular residence in Ecuador who meet the requirements for higher studies.
Where It Happens
The process is online only through admision.educacion.gob.ec.
During this phase, applicants must enter personal data, validate the information and download a digital certificate showing the process was completed.
Institutions Included
El Mercurio reports that the new academic period includes 33 public universities and polytechnic schools, along with 57 technological institutes and higher conservatories, both attached and not attached to the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture.
For expat families, the key point is timing. If a student misses the June 2-6 registration window, later application steps may not matter.
