Universidad de Cuenca Opens Its 2026 Seat-Acceptance Process

Universidad de Cuenca began its 2026 seat-acceptance process on August 12, using the platform of the Ministerio de Educación, Deporte y Cultura, according to El Mercurio. Applicants have until August 23 to accept an assigned place.

The university says the admission score is calculated from 60% of the admission exam, 40% of academic background, and affirmative-action criteria where applicable.

How many applicants took part

The process included 15,664 applicants. Of those, 13,222 took the exam on July 29 and 30. A further 119 applicants with disabilities and 60 rescheduled applicants took the exam on August 5, bringing the number evaluated to 13,401. 2,263 applicants did not take the exam.

Applicants should check the email address registered with the university and follow the institution’s official channels for their result and seat-acceptance instructions.

The university has not yet announced the date for a second application stage.

What families should do now

Anyone who participated in the process should confirm the assigned program, complete the acceptance step before August 23, and keep a record of the confirmation. A missed platform deadline is different from an academic rejection, so applicants should read the status carefully before assuming they need to start over.

For expat families, the practical detail is that the process is being handled through the ministry platform rather than by an informal email exchange. Use the university’s official channels if a result or acceptance option does not appear as expected.
