National Symphony Brings 'Visiones Modernas' to Cuenca Saturday

Cuenca gets a national orchestra stop this weekend.
El Mercurio reports that the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional del Ecuador will present its concert Visiones Modernas in Cuenca on Saturday, May 23, 2026, starting at 16:00, at Teatro Carlos Cueva Tamariz.
The Program
The repertoire listed by El Mercurio includes La noche de los Mayas by Silvestre Revueltas, plus a symphonic suite from The Lord of the Rings, composed by Howard Shore.
The concert will be directed by Ecuadorian maestro Paulo Munoz and will include Cuenca soloist Pablo Mora, who will perform the Carmen fantasy for trombone and orchestra by Georges Bizet.
The Tour
El Mercurio reports that the same tour also includes Loja and Guayaquil. The Loja performance is listed for Friday, May 22, at Teatro Nacional Benjamin Carrion, while the Guayaquil performance is listed for Sunday, May 24, at Plaza Guayarte.
