A Tango Night Is Coming to Teatro Pumapungo Saturday

Cuenca has a good Saturday-night option for anyone in the mood for music, theater and a little Rio de la Plata energy.
Tango Coral y Bandoneon will be presented at Teatro Pumapungo on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 20:00.
The concert brings together Aires de Bandoneon, Coro Santa Catalina and the Coro Juvenil del Conservatorio Superior Jose Maria Rodriguez.
What Is on the Program
The project combines Rio de la Plata repertoire with choral arrangements and invited soloists.
The concert includes work by Angel Villoldo, Carlos Gardel, Alfredo Le Pera, Astor Piazzolla, Enrique Santos Discepolo, Mariano Mores and Homero Manzi, among other classic and contemporary tango composers.
The program includes pieces such as Adios Nonino, Balada para un loco, Por una cabeza, Libertango and Cambalache.
Who Is Performing
Musical direction is led by Luis Arindia, Edgar Avecillas, Maria Eugenia Arias and Pablo Carrion.
The arrangements were prepared by David Tinitana, Moises Ortiz and Pablo Carrion.
The youth choir from the Jose Maria Rodriguez conservatory has four decades of history and will participate with 55 members. Maria Eugenia Arias has led the group since its creation.
Coro Santa Catalina, founded in 1985, is also part of the concert, under the direction of Pablo Ochoa Maldonado.
