Cuenca marks the Virgen del Carmen feast day today with a schedule that runs from a noon field mass to an evening procession, dance festival, and cold fireworks.
Today's Schedule
The program for Thursday, July 16 is:
- 12:00: field mass
- 17:30: solemn Eucharist
- 18:30: procession
- 20:00: Thirtieth Dance Festival "Nuestra Señora del Carmen"

The celebration also marks the close of the quincenario that brought devotees together at the Santuario del Carmen de la Asunción.
Local Context
The quincenario began on July 1, 2026, with Eucharistic celebrations and prayer activities organized by the Carmelite religious community.
Celebrations are also being held in parishes including Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Virgen de Bronce, Miraflores, and El Carmen de Sidcay. If you live near one of those areas, expect extra foot traffic and a more active evening around church events.
