Cazhapata Sports Complex Is 47% Built In Puertas Del Sol

The Cazhapata sports complex in Puertas del Sol is now 47% complete, and the project is starting to look less like a plan and more like a real public venue.
The complex is being built with a $4.8 million investment. On Thursday, July 2, 2026, acting mayor Marisol Penalosa visited the site to review the current state of the work.
What Is Done So Far
The parking area has been finished, with capacity for about 100 vehicles. The structure for the multifunctional sports complex is also visible.
Grandstand construction is moving ahead, including the metal structure for the roof. The planned capacity is 4,000 spectators.
The main facade is also close to completion, with a red-toned metal structure.
What Comes Next
The project is expected to include a cafeteria, commercial spaces, and a room for different sports activities.
For people living on the west side of Cuenca, this is one to watch because Puertas del Sol is already a busy residential and commercial zone. A 4,000-spectator public venue could be useful, but it can also change traffic and parking patterns when events begin.
