Mutualista Azuay Neighbors Push For Road, Safety, And Access Works

The neighborhood of Mutualista Azuay N.º 1 has turned its community house into a local organizing point, but residents say several basic works still need attention.
What The Neighborhood Wants
Residents are asking for improvements in three areas: roads, mobility, and safety.
On the road side, they want paving on Iván Orozco, Ulisis Chacón, and Juan Aguilar streets. Together, those sections add up to about 300 to 400 meters.
They are also worried about heavy vehicles moving through the neighborhood toward a commercial center in Racar. Neighbors want that traffic restricted to early morning hours, when pedestrian movement is lower.
Access And Safety Requests
Residents also want a stairway built on the extension of Jambelí street to connect with Felipe Serrano street.
In that same area, a resident warned that a public-lighting pole is close to collapsing because of damage at its base.
The neighborhood is also asking for at least two security cameras, community alarms, and more National Police patrols. Residents say patrols are currently sporadic.
Why It Matters Locally
Mutualista Azuay N.º 1 is home to more than 500 families. The practical issue is familiar in Cuenca: organized neighborhoods can win community improvements, but basic street, mobility, and safety requests often take persistence.
