Four Cuenca Streets Will Go Pedestrian for Corpus Christi Nights

If you are heading to Corpus Christi at night, plan for pedestrian streets around Parque Calderon.
El Mercurio reports that Corpus Christi 2026 begins on Thursday, June 4, with sweets, castillos and religious activities around the park.
Cuenca's Mobility Directorate has prepared a plan for pedestrians and vehicles.
Streets Closed To Cars
Four streets will be pedestrian-only from 19:00 to 22:00, from June 4 to June 14:
- Sucre, between Benigno Malo and Luis Cordero
- Benigno Malo, between Bolivar and Sucre
- Luis Cordero, between Sucre and Bolivar
- Bolivar, between Luis Cordero and Benigno Malo
Those are the streets surrounding the core Cathedral and Parque Calderon area.
Tram Service
El Mercurio reports the Mobility Directorate is encouraging people to use the tram during Corpus Christi.
Two additional tram units will be added at night.
The report says a tram unit will circulate every 10 minutes.
Practical Notes
If you are driving into El Centro, do not try to thread your way right up to the park at night. Park farther out or use the tram.
The pedestrian plan is good news if you want to walk safely through the sweets and castillo crowds. It is bad news if you expected a normal quick drive through the center.
