Police Share Safety Tips for Corpus Christi Crowds in Cuenca

Corpus Christi is underway in Cuenca, and the crowds around Parque Calderon are part of the experience.
They are also part of the risk.
The festival runs through June 11 around the Centro Historico, with religious activities, sweets, music, castillos and heavy pedestrian traffic.
Police Recommendations
For anyone attending, police are recommending:
- Keep belongings in sight.
- Store phones, wallets and valuables in secure places.
- Use authorized parking if you drive.
- Do not leave valuables inside vehicles.
- Teach children to approach a police officer if they get separated.
What This Means For Expats
This is not a reason to avoid Corpus Christi. It is a reason to go like you understand how crowded festivals work.
Use a crossbody bag or front pocket. Do not keep your phone loose in a back pocket. If you are taking photos, put the phone away between shots instead of walking with it out.
And if you are going with kids or visiting family, pick a meeting point before the crowd gets thick.
