Father’s Day Shopping in Cuenca Has a World Cup Twist This Year

Father's Day shopping in Cuenca has a very football-shaped mood this year.
The celebration falls alongside World Cup excitement, and local sellers are leaning into it with national-team jerseys, football-themed breakfast deliveries, custom arrangements and classic toquilla straw hats.
Football Jerseys Near Wayra Plaza
One local shop near Wayra Plaza is displaying more than 2,000 jerseys from World Cup national teams and internationally recognized clubs.
Owner Jose Perez says demand has increased in recent days as people look for Father's Day gifts. Jerseys are selling for $30, with a promotion of two for $55.
The standout options include Ecuador national-team jerseys from 1993, when Ecuador finished fourth in the Copa America, and 2002, the year Ecuador reached its first World Cup.
Surprise Breakfasts In Totoracocha
In Totoracocha, Angels is offering football-themed surprise breakfasts and arrangements for Father's Day.
Owner Elizabeth Zamora says the breakfasts combine food with football-themed decorative elements. A basic breakfast costs about $24, while fuller options reach $35.
The shop also offers customized arrangements starting at $8, $15 and $20.
Toquilla Hats At CEMUART
For a more traditional gift, CEMUART is selling toquilla straw hats made by artisans from Azuay and other provinces.
At local 19, hats start at $15, with price depending on the quality and fineness of the fiber. The shop has models in different colors and designs for tourists and local buyers.
One More Practical Note
Restaurants are preparing special menus for families, and the Cementerio Patrimonial will extend its hours and offer Eucharists for the commemoration.
The practical read: if you are planning a family meal, a cemetery visit or a last-minute gift run, expect activity to build from Friday into the weekend. Cuenca does not need much encouragement to turn a family date into a full-day errand loop.
