Miraflores Businesses Push Back On New No-Parking Lines

A small but very practical traffic fight is playing out on the road to Miraflores.
Businesses and residents along the route between Avenida de Las Américas and the Bodegas de ElJuri sector were surprised by new EMOV signage prohibiting parking in both directions. Merchants say the yellow lines hurt business activity, and on Monday they closed the road in protest.
Why EMOV Says It Acted
Pablo Carvallo, EMOV’s director of mobility management, said the decision followed requests from residents because heavy traffic was making pedestrian passage difficult. He pointed to a local ordinance saying high-traffic and high-mobility roads should have parking restrictions.
EMOV had already placed preventive signs in May, but the vertical signs later disappeared. The agency then painted the yellow lines.
What Changes Next
After a meeting with business owners, a new signage plan is expected. The stated goal is to protect pedestrians without hurting the operation of nearby commercial establishments.
For anyone who drives in that area, assume the parking situation may keep shifting. If you normally stop along the Miraflores route, watch the painted curb lines and the replacement signage before leaving your car.
