Cuenca Says Urban Buses Are Back to Normal Service

Cuenca's urban bus service is supposed to be back on its normal schedule.
Acting mayor Marisol Peñaloza met with representatives of the city's seven urban bus operators, and the city says the meeting produced agreements aimed at restoring service and keeping the fare-and-subsidy dispute moving through a technical process.
What Changed
The main practical point is this: urban bus service has resumed in its usual hours, with more frequent units to meet rider demand.
The city also says the seven operators will sign the documents needed to access the approved subsidy. At the same time, municipal technical staff will begin reviewing the transport sector's requested changes to technical annexes.
What Comes Next
The agreement includes several follow-up items:
-
Permanent work tables between city institutions and urban transport representatives
-
Technical studies to support future decisions on bus operations
-
Input from the bus chambers, EMOV EP and the Consejo de Seguridad Ciudadana
-
Analysis of possible electric-bus implementation
-
A fare structure based on technical studies and specialized consulting
-
A link between bus-unit monitoring systems and the city security council
For riders, the immediate takeaway is simple: if you had been planning around reduced evening service, check your usual route again. The city is saying the normal schedule is back, but after a week of disruption, it is still worth giving yourself a little extra buffer while service settles down.
