Correction: It's «Segundas Lecturas» Book Fair This Weekend — April 10-12 at the Biblioteca Municipal

Correction
An earlier version of this post described Cuenca's "International Book Fair" running April 10-14 with 60 writers. Those details turned out to come from the 2024 edition — not a confirmed 2026 event. The actual book fair happening in El Centro this weekend is smaller and local: the sixth edition of the Feria de Libros «Segundas Lecturas». Thanks to reader Patty Mlady, who shared the correct details from El Mercurio after several readers asked about the location.
The Event
The sixth edition of Feria de Libros «Segundas Lecturas» runs Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 12 at the Biblioteca Municipal Daniel Córdova Toral in El Centro (source).
It's a local, Cuenca-focused book fair — book presentations, readings, a creative writing workshop, and open mic sessions across three days. Think community event, not big international trade show.

What This Means for You
- All programming is in Spanish. Even if your Spanish is still developing, browsing stands and hearing authors read their own work is worthwhile.
- It's small and local. That's the point — direct conversation with Ecuadorian authors and small presses is hard to find outside of events like this.
- Cortopunzante is a Cuenca-based indie press worth knowing if you're interested in contemporary Ecuadorian poetry and narrative.
- Pairs with Foundation Week. You can stop by the book fair and still make the bigger Foundation Week events happening across El Centro this weekend.
