Arcsa Closed One Restaurant Near Cuenca's Regional Hospital After a Pest Inspection

A food-safety note for anyone eating around the hospital area: Arcsa closed one restaurant near Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso after an inspection tied to a citizen alert.
El Mercurio reports that the Agencia Nacional de Regulacion, Control y Vigilancia Sanitaria (Arcsa) inspected three restaurants near the hospital. According to the May 18, 2026 report, inspectors found a serious pest problem in one establishment and proceeded with its closure.
What Inspectors Found
El Mercurio reports that the restaurant appeared to be in order until inspectors moved refrigeration equipment and found a nest with dozens of cockroaches.
Arcsa said the situation represented an imminent risk to public health because the insects can contaminate food and kitchen utensils with bacteria and waste.
What Arcsa Says
The agency reminded restaurant, cafeteria, picanteria, and other food-business owners that controls are carried out randomly or in response to citizen complaints.
For diners, the useful takeaway is that citizen alerts do get checked, and at least one recent Cuenca inspection led to a closure.
