Azuay and Canar Road Status: Where to Drive Carefully Today

If you are driving outside Cuenca today, check your route before leaving.

The Biggest Alerts
The Cuenca-Giron-Pasaje route remains closed from kilometer 82 to Azuay jurisdiction. Drivers are also being told to use caution at kilometers 66, 72, 75 and 82.
The Cuenca-Molleturo-Naranjal route is partially open at kilometer 101, but only for light vehicles up to 3.5 tons. Caution points were also listed at kilometers 49, 53, 57, 85 and 91.
The Paute-Guarumales-Mendez route has partial access in the Sacre sector and at kilometers 50 and 61, with caution points at kilometers 44, 105 and 107.
Open But Use Caution
The Cuenca-Gualaceo-Limon route is open, but authorities recommend caution because of landslides at kilometers 6, 29, 39+500, 47, 54 and 57 in the Ingamullo II sector.
There is also restricted passage at kilometer 23, near Puente San Vicente, in Morona Santiago jurisdiction. The alternate route listed is Guarumales-Mendez.

The Cuenca-Canar-Alausi route is partially open in the El Rocio sector.

If you are headed to Guayaquil, Machala, Canar, Gualaceo, Paute or Morona Santiago, confirm the route with ECU911 or official road channels before you leave. Bring patience, water, and a plan for turning back if conditions change.
